It’s a fact of life that shipping things will lead to waste of some sort. Fast Company reported that approximately 165 billion packages are shipped in the US each year, with the cardboard used roughly equalling over 1 BILLION trees.
WBX Commerce doesn’t take this lightly, which is why we’re committed to continuous improvement in sustainable business practices.
We’ve replaced air pillows (which are not universally recyclable) with brown kraft paper for extra padding in our boxes.
WBX Commerce now sends SIOC (ship-in-own-container) inventory to Amazon when possible, which means products that can be identified with their existing barcodes don’t require any extra packaging.
Now that we have two warehouses in different areas of the country (Baltimore and Las Vegas), our clients can ship their inventory to the closest location to reduce carbon emissions (and shipping costs!) In that same vein, the growth WBX Commerce has seen in recent months means that we now send full truck loads to FBA once a week instead of scheduling several LTL shipments, which equals less emissions and cost savings for our clients. Who knew doing the right thing for the planet was also the right thing for our clients?
